Dragon Quest VIII. I've been replaying it recently, and for some reason this rather calm and downplayed romance struck my sappy side. Even if Medea is a horse for most of the game, and the other one doesn't talk. (I named him Jason. How could I resist?)
Background is the mystical spring from the game, obviously. Or uh, not so obviously. That's what it's meant to be, but really it's just a blue and brown blur with vague background properties. I'm still trying to get the hang of these tree things.

I really enjoyed the game. I like to think there was real love between the two even before the night that Dhoulmagus took the Staff that held Rhapthorne's soul. And when the game comes out on the 20th of this month for the 3DS there may be more story that we never saw in the game on the PS2.
